Lately I have been very lazy when it comes to turning my computer on. Naturally that resulted in complete absence from most of my social networks. The days just seem to slip away while real life was happening. After visiting my hubby’s family in July the time came to visit my folks too. I managed to convince hubby the dearest to take our car and drive all the way to Croatia, my home place. It was refreshing to see everybody again without the whole trip being wrapped in a dark scarf of sadness as the last time. I let my parents pamper me to the maximum which also resulted in 4 additional kilos in only two weeks. My doctor was not happy once we returned home. Nevertheless the last visit to the gynecologist was exciting. We found out our little bundle of joy or as I like to call him ‘our little monkey’ will be a BOY!!! With a sad thought on my mind that I have to give up on the idea of buying small pink tutus, I embraced another thought, the one of small dinosaurs and cute tiny jeans with suspenders. 🙂 As you can see I am already getting a very high baby fever. Luckily there are still good people that keep my feet firmly on the ground. We will see for how long because I am growing tendencies to fly away on this huge baby-blue cloud of happiness. I have to say, except the fact that my profile started to look like one from Homer Simpson, the second trimester has been soooo much prettier than the first – morning sicknesses (or more like all-day-sicknesses) and oversensitiveness to certain smells are gone and my normal appetite is back. Or maybe it even got enlarged, even though I try not to eat for two. 😀 I still mostly blame mom and her kitchen for that. 😛 It is really easy to forget bad things about the pregnancy, especially once things come back to normal and you get to plan and do normal everyday stuff like cleaning and cooking without carrying around a big plastic bucket with painted poppies on it. Additional to finally cleaning our apartment thoroughly I was also keeping myself busy with preparing for my big German test in hope I pass it from the first try. I do have big plans once this little monster finally comes to live with us. And for those plans I do need a certificate of my German knowledge… I must say it all seemed easier than it in the end was. Well now all we can do is to wait and see if I managed or not. Till then I try not to think of it by spending money on little cute baby clothes and accessorize for my baby, OMG – MY BABY – for the first time. Suddenly all the adorable cute baby stuff don’t seem to be cute enough for our little superman. Nevertheless, I spend and spend and spend and apply for every possible baby card in a store they offer me. Poor little guy will disappear in piles of clothes and cards as soon as he comes to the world. Makes me wonder, are all future mothers like that or just me? Is it just under the influence of all those hormones or the fact that I carry XX chromosomes? Well if I disappear from this blog forever, you folks will know why, I got suffocated in a pile of free baby magazines that will soon start to pile on my doorstep. Hopefully till the next time…
Sincerely yours… mom to be ❤
Finally I found those old DVDs with plenty of photos and that means that soon there will be new old adventures to rediscover on my “adventurous” part of the blog. For now there are only some of the USA trip photos but soon I promise to put more. The three of us 🙂 are busy with planning our future and therefore neglecting the blog a bit but soon I will upload my crafty stuff and the last visit to Bamberg. Till than… Toodoolooo! 😉
As you know we visited relatives in Köln last week and I still haven´t given the report on that. Sadly the weather was bad just as it has been for couple of last days. It seems as if the sky would just open and pour liters and liters of water on one square meter in just seconds. I know a bit more about science than an average person but sometimes I really wonder what is wrong with the weather lately and could it be that all this is coming from the global warming´s effects. Or is the sky just simply sad sometimes and needs to spill over for the sake of everybody else. Yeah, I know that is just us people or should I narrow it more down to, it is just us women, or even narrower – just me sometimes. Generalizing is easy and almost everybody does it but there is something about the fact that women cry a lot (probably just hormones). What I got to say to that is: men be happy when we do, it is our way/my way of deflating and letting the steam out, trust me it would only get worse if we didn’t. I like to think it is the same with sky, better a bit of rain every once in a while than a big storm that ruins everything once a year. Sadly exactly that happens more and more often. Ehhh I guess I drifted away from my original topic… visiting family. I must say that with my nauseousness and rainy weather the only happy thing that weekend was the family itself. We had a great time and we finally got to see our little nephew who is growing as fast as little mushrooms after all the rain. He is adorable! ❤ Ahhh kids are great! They are worth all the sacrifices a person has to make. I do miss my job, even one year after moving I still didn't get used to not working but as it seems there are greater plans ahead of us anyhow. Hope dies the last and I know once that I put my head into it I will manage everything, the right time just hasn't come yet. In my case the sweetest thing comes first and later on, the schedule will simply write itself. For now the hardest thing in my state is being alone a lot, especially since I don't live in a capital any more with all my friends just a phone call away. Let's just say our part of town (read village) hasn't even got a real store. It does keep our budget above the water with very little shopping activities. As already said, I just need to be patient for a little longer and our lives will be completely different, no more loneliness, never again. Until than I do hope hubby starts to come home a bit sooner, we manage a nice visit to Croatia and we manage to prepare ourselves well for what is coming our way in 6 months. 🙂 Never again home alone! 😉
This weekend we had the In-laws visiting us. We decided it would be nice to discover the surrounding area since they haven’t been to our new apartment before and therefore in our neighborhood (not that we know it that well either). From many many lovely story-telling places in this part of the Germany, we decided to go for the small Castle Lichtenstein and a nice 1 h walk to the Nebelhöhle (“Misty cave”). Afterwards we had a refreshment and a nice German lunch at the restaurant above the cave. It was yummy! Here are the pics!
For now I am waiting for another visit of friends or relatives so we get a nice excuse to wander around and spend time and money on yummy food, museums, castles and attractions. There are so many around here! 🙂 ❤
Finally we got to travel a bit again, it wasn’t as far but still very sweet. This time we were visiting my sister in Heidelberg or as many foreigners like to call it ” The Harry Potter Town”. Not that it has anything to do with the character. It is more about the vibe those old buildings, the castle and plenty of students leave behind. All in all we had an awesome weekend and I prepared quite some photos of Heidelberg, Mannheim and us to present you the great atmosphere. So here we go with the first one. The one that will show you why Heidelberg really is one adorable little town filled with old charm.
Luckily there are also plenty of opportunities to make a monkey out of yourself here. I think Seb managed quite well. Just one of plenty cute things around Heidelberg.
Another beauty of this town is that wherever you go there is music tempting you to reveal secret places it is coming from. One of them was also this beautiful Heiliggeist Kirche.
What would it all be worth if we didn’t climb up to the top of the hill and visited the old castle with all its specifics…
…like the biggest barrel in the world…
…or a really old pharmacy museum.
Our second day we decided to spend in Mannheim. Mannheim is with its cca. 300 000 inhabitants quite bigger than Heidelberg but still as cute and magnificent. We decided to take a long walk from the big old water tower in the very center towards …
…the Luisenpark that is so much more than just a park. The area is huge and provides place for animals, plants, concerts, picnics, even gondola rides on a lake and a mini-golf. Let’s just say one day was not enough to see everything but we at least tried to have maximum fun in such a short time. Here you can see the two of us in the famous gondola. It was one really really nice ride.
As always my sweet tooth needed to be satisfied also so one yummy waffle with sugar and cinnamon was in order.
That was of course only the prelude and after the exhausting day we decided to treat ourselves with some real good German food. It was also yummy! To conclude: It was one heck’ of a good weekend. We are already looking forward to being on the road again in June.
Yesterday me and my hubby had our first marriage anniversary. I can’t believe that time passed so fast. Since many of you don’t know the story of how I met my husband I prepared a short story on our crazy first encounter. I know I am not a professional writer and I do not intend to be but I do feel like sharing my happiness with you guys so who wants to know more should read “The story about him and me” on my About me page. And this is how we spent our fancy first anniversary weekend:
1. Bike ride
2. BBQ for 2 with our mini portable grill
3. Geting fancy and driving to the center
4. Sushi dinner at our sushi restaurant
5. Nice homemade cocktails.
We had awesome time! I hope you can see it on pics! 🙂
Ouuu yeah, I am back and the after-Easter reality hit, I also managed to gain a few new kilos on my waist and plenty of crafty plans on my mind. The Easter was really nice, food even better. We had Iva visiting us what made it even happier. We like to say that old one: ” The more, the merrier!” It was also used as an excuse to cook more and do more of nothing. There was salmon cooked in creme fraiche, pork with potato dumplings and veggies gravy, cheese fondue, homemade pina coladas, traditional colored hard-boiled eggs, sweets and plenty more delicious foods and drinks. I planed to have a big breakfast and lunch outside, sadly the weather didn’t cooperate with my feast-plans. That also means I didn’t manage to use the little project from last time for that purpose. If you didn’t guess what the project was, the pic showed a bench in pieces. We bought it as a plain one and got it pretty cheap at the big furniture store during their garden furniture sale. I love plain, it is like an empty canvas, you can do with it what you like and out of plain make a masterpiece, not that I am claiming I made one but I sure made it cute and interesting and that is what matters to me. 🙂 So you saw the first phase – coloring it in red. We still had a bit of left over color from painting the kitchen shelves and I wanted to use it. Not to make it just red I decided to add a bit of Ana-touch, some flowers and colors. It worked out just great! Now our little front yard looks even cuter.
This will make our life out here even sweeter. Even though we didn’t manage to use the bench and the rest of the garden furniture for Easter, it was a nice investment. On the days after Easter weather did show its pretty sunny face for some time and we had an opportunity to enjoy and discover our wonderful new neighborhood by bike. I must say hubby did a great job in fixing and improving the used bike I got. That is our new thing, grab bikes and just ride around the place. I never realized how much prettier the world looks from behind my bike basket. Last time I did not take my camera but I do plan to, so expect new nice photos. Yesterday rain came back and we are more or less locked up in the apartment, it is a bit too cold and to wet for anything else, at least in my book. On these kind of days I prefer to do some artsy craftsy or sweet stuff inside these four walls. As a matter of fact we did manage to bake something sweet over the Easter days. The yummiest Swedish cakes I ever tried (and they have plenty) – Mazariners
and some “lick your fingers afterwards” white chocolate creme served with puff pastry and fresh strawberries jelly. It was delicious, if you don’t believe me, ask Iva. 😉 And if you wish to make your own, under the “sweet” rubric you can find recipes.
I will come back soon with more new cute crafty and fun stuff. Stay put! 😉 🙂
Till the next time folks… Adios!
